OpenAI brings Codex to the ChatGPT mobile app

OpenAI said Codex is now rolling out in preview inside the ChatGPT mobile app on iOS and Android.
The mobile app connects to machines where Codex is already running, including laptops, dedicated Mac mini setups, and managed remote environments.
OpenAI said the app syncs live thread state, approvals, plugins, and project context, while files, credentials, permissions, and local setup remain on the connected machine.
Mobile users can review outputs, approve commands, change models, start new threads, and monitor screenshots, terminal output, diffs, and test results in real time.
OpenAI said Codex uses a secure relay layer to keep trusted machines reachable across signed-in devices without exposing them directly to the public internet.
The company also said more than 4 million people now use Codex each week.
Remote SSH is now generally available, allowing Codex to connect directly to managed remote environments from the desktop app.
OpenAI also announced general availability for Hooks, Enterprise and Business availability for programmatic access tokens, and HIPAA-compliant local Codex use for eligible ChatGPT Enterprise workspaces only.
OpenAI said phone-to-Codex support for the Windows app is coming soon.
