OpenAI expands ChatGPT mobile and finance #21
Today's Letter
OpenAI, Codex added to ChatGPT mobile app

- OpenAI said Codex is now rolling out in preview inside the ChatGPT mobile app on iOS and Android across all plans, including Free and Go, in supported regions.
- The mobile app can sync active threads, project context, approvals, plugins, and new task creation rather than acting as a basic remote-control client.
- Users can review outputs, approve commands, switch models, and start new work from a phone while Codex continues running across laptops, devboxes, or remote environments.
- OpenAI said files, credentials, permissions, and local setup remain on the machine running Codex, while the phone receives screenshots, terminal output, diffs, test results, and approval requests.
- Connectivity uses a secure relay layer so trusted machines stay reachable across devices without being exposed directly to the public internet.
- OpenAI also announced Remote SSH general availability, general availability for Hooks, scoped programmatic access tokens for Enterprise and Business workspaces, and HIPAA-compliant local Codex use for eligible ChatGPT Enterprise workspaces.
- OpenAI said more than 4 million people now use Codex every week; support for connecting the Windows Codex app with mobile is listed as coming soon.

OpenAI, ChatGPT personal finance preview launched

- OpenAI released a preview of a personal finance experience in ChatGPT for Pro users in the U.S.
- Users can connect financial accounts through Plaid, with Intuit support listed as coming soon, and the system is said to support more than 12,000 financial institutions.
- ChatGPT can show a dashboard for spending, subscriptions, upcoming payments, portfolio performance, balances, investments, and liabilities.
- OpenAI says the feature is grounded in a user's own financial context and can answer budgeting, savings, investment, and planning questions after account sync and categorization.
- The product is available on web and iOS, with entry points through the Finances sidebar or the "@Finances, connect my accounts" command.
- OpenAI says ChatGPT cannot view full account numbers or make changes to linked accounts.
- Financial memories can store user context such as mortgage plans, savings goals, or planned purchases for later conversations.
- OpenAI links the launch to GPT-5.5 reasoning improvements and says it will expand from early U.S. Pro access to Plus, with a longer-term goal of broader availability.
