Agent Infrastructure and Copilot Metrics #54

GitHub adds per-user AI credit metrics to Copilot API

- GitHub added an `ai_credits_used` field to the Copilot usage metrics API for per-user AI credit consumption tracking
- The field reports each user's total AI credits consumed across all Copilot activity, rather than a breakdown by feature, model, or surface
- It is available in both `users-1-day` and `users-28-day` user-level reports
- The reports are exposed at both enterprise and organization scope
- Access is limited to enterprise administrators and organization owners who already have Copilot usage metrics access through the REST API
- GitHub positions the field as a way to compare usage activity with AI credit consumption in the same reports
- The company also frames it as a planning signal for usage-based billing and budget monitoring
- GitHub notes that this metric is for consumption analysis and should not be treated as the invoiced billing total

AWS, Web Search for Bedrock AgentCore GA

- AWS made Web Search on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore generally available on June 19, 2026.
- The feature adds MCP-compatible web search as a managed target or connector for AgentCore Gateway.
- Agents can discover it through a standard tools/list call and invoke it like other MCP tools.
- Amazon says the service runs on a purpose-built web index covering tens of billions of documents.
- The index is refreshed continuously, with new content reflected within minutes.
- Retrieval can combine a knowledge graph with semantic snippet extraction tuned for model context.
- AWS says queries stay within AWS infrastructure, with no third-party search API keys, outbound credentials, or result-parsing glue required.
