GitHub, license data accuracy improved

- GitHub now prioritizes canonical package registries for license metadata in dependency graphs
- The change covers dependency insights, SBOMs, GitHub Advanced Security license compliance, and dependency review
- Registries include npmjs.org, PyPI, nuget.org, rubygems.org, crates.io, pkg.go.dev, deps.dev, pub.dev, and packagist.org
- Missing license data fell from 45% to 24% across 170 million packages
- ClearlyDefined remains a fallback source, while version ranges reduce the need for per-version database entries
- Updated license information is available across GitHub as of August 13, 2026
