GitHub, Copilot policy and billing changes
- GitHub announced three upcoming changes to Copilot policies, billing, and code review defaults
- New Copilot Business and Enterprise signups paid by credit card or PayPal reopen from September 1, 2026
- New seat assignments require payment before access; existing customers receive upfront seat charges from October 1, with prices unchanged
- Exceeding included usage may require additional payment; spend controls, usage tracking, and AI credit purchases remain available
- No earlier than September 28, Copilot cloud agent, Copilot Chat on github.com, and GitHub Mobile converge under one policy and default experience
- Copilot on github.com moves to agent sessions, extending chat data retention from 28 days to the life of the account
- Copilot code review changes its Default effort level from Lite to Balanced on September 28; organizations and repositories can explicitly retain Lite

- Vercel added support for running Claude Managed Agents with Chat SDK
- Claude Managed Agents manages the model, tools, session state, and sandboxed web research server-side
- Chat SDK provides token-by-token response streaming and live activity feeds for tool calls and model requests
- Sessions persist conversation state per thread, removing the need for application-managed database state
- Agents can be moved to Teams, Google Chat, Discord, WhatsApp, and 30+ other platforms with minor handler changes
- Vercel provides a one-click Slack research agent deployment, a step-by-step guide, and a template source
